Would like to add cruise control to my 1981 280sl is there any universal kits that would work.

I have a new old stock VDO one, specific for Mercedes with cable accelerator linkages. I was going to fit it to my C280, but never got around to it. It's yours for the £200 (approx $400) I paid for it, and the shipping to the USA. For that I'll throw in a LHD Mercedes Cruise switch as well, which I'm fairly certain you will be able to swap for the more generic looking one which comes with the VDO kit

Let me know if you are interested, or I'll just leave it sitting in my garage until my kids graduate and I finally get around to doing something with it......
