Ha ha!

No, I freeze framed it. Production designer was pretty "car accurate" with the year this was supposed to be, tho I think it had the bundt pan wheels. And I don't think those wheels were on the early year cars...?

Spotted a Metallic Brown 450sl in Annie Hall. Driven by Woody Allen's friend "Rob" in Los Angeles. There's a scene where it obviously being towed, and another side shot.

I've just been watching a couple of re-runs of Columbo and SLs feature a lot.
'Playback' had the villain driving a pale yellow 450, while an episode with Goerge hamilton portrayed him as the killer and he drove a dark blue model.
They were obviously THE car to been seen in in the late 70's / early eighties!
Just off to kill the wife as this seems to be a prerequisite of ownership. Big Grin

AMERICAN GIGOLO is like an orgasm for 107 SL lovers. The car is the star of the first 10 minutes along with the BLONDIE "Call Me" soundtrack- rent it just to see the close-up of the black on black 1979 450 SL cruising the coastline on the PCH with the top down...the bundt rims, the mirrors. The close up of the tail lights. He cruises to Rodeo Drive and puts the top down with a slam when he drops a woman off at her mansion. Then later in the movie Gere rips the car apart looking for stashed jewels. It's great. The car is the star.
You have to rent it.

Also, the critically acclaimed film "STAR 80" features a silver 450 SL that murdered Playboy Playmate of the Year and actress Dorothy Stratten's (played by Mariel Hemmingway) freaky boyfriend buys with her cash and the Sl's license plate "STAR 80" is the film's title.

HART TO HART and the yellow 450 SL is a classic, too!

And in JAMES BOND, "Never Say Never Again"..."Bond girl" vilain Fattima Blush (played by Barbara Carrera) drives a gold "euro" 107 SL (280 SL?) with a brown cloth interior and throws her pet snake out the window to eliminate a spy cruising next to her and make him crash his car.

1985 500SL with 167,000 miles and counting.

Hi All,

I just finished watching Terminal w/ Tom Hanks. Just after the last airport scene, it swithces to a night scene on a New York street. As the camera pans down the side of a building you can see the back half of a white or light colored 107 driving out of the scene.

"The Sum of All Fears" had one shot where Ben Affleck had to meet Morgan Freeman out in his car in the rain - definitely a 107, although it's a side shot and I can't tell which one....

Joe Versus the Volcano. Meg Ryan's 2nd character, Angelica, drives a red 560sl with palomino leather seats. There are some great scenes of her and Tom Hanks tooling the Califonia highway with the top down, parking in the car overlooking LA at night (sorry - not a makeout scene), and then a great shot of the Mercedes grill as she returns him to the hotel. If you've never seen this movie, you should check it out. I'm pretty sure it was the first Tom / Meg movie. Cute story, and Meg looks absolutely gorgeous. It also includes an awesome sailboat (one of my other obsessions...)
