I just chanced mine last month. I paid about $300 for the re-manufactured box. I do not have a lift but did have my 76 450 high on jacks. Took me about 1/2 day. I did have to take the box to a shop to have them pull the steering arm.

Do a search on the forum for "steering box". There are plenty posts on the topic and that should give you an idea if it's something you want to tackle yourself. If you intend to work on the car yourself I highly suggest you get the appropriate MB shop manuals unless you already have them.
