79 450SL how do you erplace the ignition lock cylinder? Do have to remove ignition switch?

Hi there
If you can still turn the cylinder to position 1 ie the first click its just a case of inserting a thin steel rod down a small hole between the side of the cylinder & its housing this will release a small detent on the side of the cylinder which can then be pull out on the key. if you cant turn the cylinder you will prob have to replace the complete steering lock assy
