Posting this for fun: Found these swatches from the original european 1984 Mercedes Interior Swatches catalog...these are the fabric upholstery options you could order for your 107 SL in europe if you did not want leather or all MB TEX seats in your car. MB TEX trim with fabric; must admit they are not my choice, and I feel lucky not to have this option, but they are fun to see. I never knew so many fabric colors were available. I had only seen a "brazil" brown or beige plaid before on a SL, like the one on the gold 107 280SL used in the James Bond film "Never Say Never Again".
Some of them remind me of the 80's upholstery from a German or Swiss train cabin, especially the red. Very Teutonic and practical.
The black is not that bad, and I remember seeing the green once on a 240D, I think. I can't decide which is the worst. I'm staying with my leather seats.

Back in my younger years I drove a Triumph TR7 with a similar interior treatment. Didn't like it one bit. Reminded me of my Catholic school years with all that plaid.
I'm with you. I'll stick with my light grey leather.
