Does anyone know where to find a after market dash for the 380SL? I'm not talking about the dash cap but the dash itself. I think Mercedes wants about $1400.00 for a new dash and my wife thinks my toy is a money pit as it is.

At this point, I think they are even higher from the dealer (even wholesale). Just Dashes in Van Nuys can recover your dash (they use a vacuum process) at a much lower cost. http://www.justdashes.com/ The only concern would be if they can match the grain pattern.
