This is a Euro 107 ... with a 2.8L 6-Cylinder Engine.

ASE-71 is correct- thanks ASE.
In the USA the 107 with a 2.8 straight six motor are grey market cars imported privately in the 80's from Europe. This also included the 500 SL and later 300 SL but there are also 450 and 420 SLs that are grey market cars too. The six cylinder motor - both 280SL and 300SL were the only way to get a manual transmission in these cars ( save for a few 4 speed 350s) which is a great combination in this wonderful auto.

Also Rugby3-- The number before the "SL" usually means the motor size in case you did not know that. That is why the forum is called 280SL,350SL,380SL,420SL,450SL,500SL,560SL

VIN is also a giveaway. 280's are 107-042, 380's are 107-045.
