My manufacture has an over stock of German canvas convertible tops for the 107 Chassis MBZ's. This price is for the SL107 forum members. Price is $295.00. Black, blue, brown and tan. If you are in need of a top please do not wait. I will only offer this price to forum members. Contact me at nactom@earthlink.net if you would like to purchase one.

Thanks
Convertguy

Your site is convertibletopsonline right? Why does your site list the regular price as $275?

That price is for the American stayfast canvas material.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me the difference between the two materials?

I would expect that the German canvas is superior but what is the difference? Does one look better, fit better, last longer?

Thanks.

First to Tastoll. Sorry if you feel like I am advertising my business. I just thought that I would pass along a great deal like this to the members of this forum. This forum has said nothing but great things about me. The members have also sent me lots of new customers. I just wanted to let the members of this forum in on a great deal my manufacture gave me. If you feel this was inappropriate I apologize for it.

Always Repairing, The German canvas material is superior to the American stayfast canvas. It last longer, it is much tougher and of course it is what goes on the 107 chassis MBZ. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Well, I really wish I'd have seen this post before buying mine. I went with the German canvas and spend $100 more than Convertguy is offering. Mine is already installed and looks great.

I'd like to avoid the dollar off specials but this is a valid favor to anyone who needs a top.

That depends. If you plan on selling your car or not keeping it for very long this route might be a good choice for you. If you plan on keeping your car the $100 - $200 savings isn't as good a choice.

My canvas top is in bad shape and I'm considering doing it. Can a novice with a little mechanical skill do it with good results? Do any instructions come with it?

If you are handy around your SL and have time and patience, this could be a job you can tackle. I do recommend you have a professional install it. I do have installation instruction if needed.

I just recieved my soft top,I have to tell you
I put it next to my original which has never
been replaced( 1977 )The stitching,color,quality
German canvas is all there.I was skeptical, but
very satisfied. All I can figure is in California, they produce them and replace them more often. There is such a price difference compared to Michigan.

Thanks you very much Robert2. If you can post a picture of the top on the car I would really appreciate it. Once again thank you for the kind words.

You know, I cannot help feeling that I am wholly with tastoll on this one... Don't you feel that in these circumstance you should pay the measly costs of upgrading membership. For heaven's sake, it is only $30 bucks or so a year, a tiny price to pay for the obvious benfit you are receiving. If I, and other non-USA members can pay it without selling things, then surely a US-based commercial member should be able to do so. It does smell horribly of cheapskatism.

I rather just promote the car and appreciate any help along the way with parts prices. This in my view is a bulletin board announcement and personlly don't mind it. I avoid the announcements myself but so appreciate knowing of the offer.

My top is ok, but that seems like a nice price for the offer. I don't live to far from North Hollywood as I am in Anaheim California. I have never put a new top on before. How much does it cost to install one, and how much does the top normally go for and could I buy the top and have you install it later if that is something you do, or will vedors install a top for you and garantee the install if it is not there top. Will they even install it?

First to Topmerc: I never sell anything on this site. All I really do is offer some advice. Of course when the question has to do with convertible tops or interiors. If I wanted to sell these tops at this price, all I would have needed to do was go on Ebay. They would have sold like crazy there. Then all of my manufactures stock would have disappeared in less then a month. I wanted to say thank you to the members and give them the sale price. Which I do not offer anywhere else. Not every member on this forum sells items here. Most are just here to help fellow MBZ 107 SL owners. Which, by the way, I do own one. Business is business and the price for the tops are just away of showing some gratitude to the members. Some have bought and some have asked if I would honor this price later. My answer to that was "of course". Through all this I have met and spoken to some very kind people. Something that probably would not have happened if I did not offer the special price. Like the last time I apologize. If you feel this was "cheapskatism", sorry. I just wanted to help out those who needed a top.

Next to Gil: Normal price for the German canvas top, my price, is $345.00. We here at Nacho's Auto Upholstery charge $325.00 to install the 107 SL top. Call us at (818)985-9344 ask for John, see if we can help you.

Thanks

I for one appreciate this offer and will be taking you up on it.
Thank you for offering it to us.
$295.00 for an original German top is unheard of, at least by me. $325.00 for installation is also an excellent deal.
Your message has fallen upon my ears, and your appreciation for this board has in turn been appreciated by me.

First of all I want you to know.I am not an easy
person to sell to.I checked out Nachos, spoke to
his Dad even.I normally support my locals.I had
my top installed Tuesday. It turned out beautiful. My installer was very impressed,he told me his cost is more than this.German canvas is a premium because of the durability.
My local shops were quoting me about 1200. with
install,not including new rubber.
I found thru shopping around Performance
products have the best deal on weatherstripping.
the price is 116.00 plus shipping.
My total bill was about 850.00 with everything.
I am sharing this because I appreciate all
the knowledge I have gained on this forum, and
I hope someone will pass on a honest recommendation in the future.

Bob,

Congratulations on your new top. Bet your car looks like a million bucks now. You probably don't know whether to drive it top up or down.

Thanks for sharing all the info. I too will duplicate your deal down to the new rubber.

Word of advice which you may not need; get yourself down to a fabric store and buy some lightweight felt material. Strategically place it over the binding parts of your new top while folding it away (inside and out). This will avoid rub marks on clear plastic windows and help your top look new for a long time.

Lou
